Are Your Favorite Apps Going Away? PART 2

This is a “part 2” to the original post, Are Your Favorite Apps Going Away? This last week I have been contacting app publishers/developers like crazy hoping to find out if they have any plans on updating their 32-bit app to 64-bit so it will work on iOS11. I thought I would share who I have heard from and what I have found out. Keep in mind, I have not heard back from everyone by my deadline, so I will come back to this post and update it as I receive more responses.   Audio Ninja- Sad news about Audio […]

Tech Tuesday: TMASG is BACK!!!

Great news iOS lovers! The Most Addicting Sheep Game is BACK!!! This morning I woke up to a message in my inbox from Justin Southey, developer of the Most Addicting Sheep Game that the game was back. Justin was able to re-code the game which will make it easier for him to keep up with future support and updates. Keeping up is not cheap which is why the game took a backslide. But now with the new re-code it will make life a lot easier and that makes music teachers and students around the world VERY happy! Justin, a […]

Rhythm Swing App

I consider myself to be a lucky teacher and had the opportunity to beta test a fun rhythm app called Rhythm Swing. Rhythm Swing is created by Luke Bartolomeo who created Flashnote Derby. And like Flashnote Derby, Rhythm Swing is a must have in the studio. Students really get into the monkey beating the crocodile by tapping rhythms correctly. But don’t take my word for it. Here is a short video I took of one of my students playing Rhythm Swing. Trust me, you will want to watch until the end! 😉 Currently Rhythm Swing covers: Quarter Notes and Rests […]

Tech Tuesday: The iPad Piano Studio (review and giveaway!)

When Leila Viss first announced on her blog that she had something exciting in store, I knew it had to be good. As expected, her surprise was an exciting one when she announced details about her new book,The iPad Piano Studio: Keys to Unlocking the Power of Apps. With a little encouragement and support from several friends, Leila made this book possible to help teachers feel more comfortable with the way technology is moving forward. The great thing about iPads is the technology is really not too complicated. I find it much easier to work and keep up with then […]

Tech Tuesday: NoteWorks now available on iPhone and iPod Touch!

Exactly one year tomorrow I reviewed what is now one of my favorite note reading apps I like to use with my students. NoteWorks. You can read the original review here. I’m excited to announce that if you do not currently own an iPad, you can now download NoteWorks on your iPhone or iPod Touch! I played around with it on my iPhone and it is the same great program, albeit everything is smaller. Overall I prefer to play most of my piano game apps on the iPad, but for families who don’t own one, this is a great recommendation […]

Tech Tuesday: Updated IOS App List

A few weeks ago I presented my “There’s an App For That!” presentation for a local music teachers association and updated my app list. I thought I would share the updated list of apps that I enjoy. Feel free to download. There’s an App for That

TECH TUESDAYS- Lab material for beginning students

I have been using MLC for my lab times; however I have found it does not have enough material for those beginning in PA Primer or MFPA.  What else can you suggest?  I have an iPhone but not an Ipad…yet!!! First I wanted to say how much I love MusicLearningCommunity.com!  Christine Hermanson is wonderful and often times will create a game based on a need teachers have in their studio.  I have emailed her several times suggesting games, most of which were a need specifically for my primer students.  Tommy Tiger 2’s and 3’s and Hand Prints were a result […]

TECH TUESDAYS- Beginning Theory App

I came across another app that I am absolutely in LOVE with.  I had just blogged about more apps last week that I thought this is something that can go on and on.  Then I came up with an idea to do Tech Tuesdays so I can feature some of my favorite apps that I have come across.  In addition, I can give some tips and tricks about music technology, studio labs, etc…  So if you have any suggestions, questions , ideas you would like to see in Tech Tuesdays shoot me an email.  As long as it’s not too […]
