It’s that time of year. School is back in session which means accidents are more prone to happen! Last week I had a student walk in with a cast on his left arm. The nice thing is I never panic when I see this because I already have a plan in place.

I whipped out my one-handed books and assigned some pieces on Piano Maestro and he was set for the first week. Now that I know about his broken hand, I’ll be prepared for the next several weeks with some other goodies we can do during his lesson. (To see other ideas, download the freebie file)
I had to laugh when I opened up one of the one-hand books because I always have my students “autograph” the book when they need to use it. I also write down how they broke the bone. Inside we were reminded that this same student broke the same hand exactly two years prior. Same month! I joked with his Dad that he will need to keep an extra eye on him in August. He got a kick out of it too and didn’t realize that was when it happened.
On another note… Did you hear? There is a giveaway going on right now through Tuesday. Check it out here.
