Review: Ghosts and Goblins and Freaks and Ghouls

Contest, Lesson resources, Reviews

Just in time for Halloween, Jerald Simon has released a new book, Ghosts and Goblins and Freaks and Ghous. This fun and ‘scary’ book is perfect to use for halloween performances or just fun pieces to supplement and learn. Just like Platinum, all the pieces in this book is part of his “Cool Songs Club”.

Ghosts and Goblins and Freaks and Ghouls are written for the early intermediate to late intermediate student in mind. Every piece comes with three MP3s that are fun to play along with and would really add some extra spookiness to a performance. And each one has a corresponding YouTube video where Jerald will share tips and tricks for learning and playing the piece.

The pieces in this book are written in C Major, C minor, D minor, A minor and E minor.

I have a few favorites I thought I would highlight. The Dragon’s Den of Doom is very fun for students to play with the left hand ostinato pattern and right hand crossover.

Shark’s Attack is also a favorite with the repeated patterns and fun “off beat” rhythms thrown in the mix. Besides who doesn’t like playing a shark themed piece?

Do you have a student that loves to do something fun and “out of the box” when they perform? Well, then you must give them Fortress of Fear! You will want watch the YouTube video to see it in action, but students love using their forearm in this piece!

There are 10 pieces included in Ghosts and Goblins and Freaks and Ghouls and they are all Spooktacular!

Think I Managed that! I liked/shared under my business page (Lincoln Piano Teaching UK) as it would be more interesting to my pupils than friends.
