I enjoy making goals, checking off lists (probably why I still have a physical calendar) and all of that. But sometimes having a goal can be too much. Yes, we can break that goal down, but sometimes all we need is just one word. One word that gives a focus for the year. One word that can remind us to look in, look up and look out. This is why I enjoy the One Word concept. It’s not just a laundry list of goals but a continuous, personal guide.

In this music teacher tip, I share how I use the one word concept for my music students, making it a cornerstone of our spring semester kickoff. I hope this music teacher tip will help inspire some ideas.
