Contest, Lesson resources, Reviews

Elena Cobb, composer of the popular Higgledy Piggledy Jazz has just released a new book for the beginner called “My Piano Trip to London.”

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 8.03.18 AMStudents will learn about basic musical concepts, some tid bits about London and play some fun pieces with lyrics! The teacher duets that are included are the cherry on top of this delicious dessert!

I loved that Elena included a Map of London (almost) which allows for some discussion that is followed up within the book.

For example, one of my favorite features of My Piano Trip to London is the Fab Fact, where a fact about London is shared. Students can read the fab fact and then they can go find it on the map.

Another favorite feature included in My Piano Trip to London is the Top Tip. These are little practice tips for the students to remember when they are practicing.

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 8.39.52 AMWe are BBC fans at our house. Dr. Who and Sherlock are some of our favorites to watch. Right now Dr. Who is bigger then ever, many students know and watch it. So when I saw there was a piece called TV Station BBC I just had to play it with a student. You can enjoy it here, we had a lot of fun with that piece!

Now when you look at the sample music below you will notice what Elena did with this piece. What better way to practice B and C then have a piece about TV Station BBC!

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 8.38.25 AMYou can find samples of all the pages in this book at ElenaCobb.com in addition to hearing the duets.  This 44 page book is wired bound and will have complementary stickers and downloadable play-along tracks available to purchase. You can pre-order today here! It should be ready to ship by Wednesday.

Elena has generously offered to give away one copy of My Piano Trip to London to a lucky teacher! To enter leave a comment below. Deadline to enter is by Sunday, November 30, 2014  TOMORROW, Wednesday, December 3, 2014; 10:00pm (AZ, MST).  GIVEAWAY HAS EXPIRED
