Roots of Rhythm- Student Summer Workshop

Camps and Workshops

Back in April, I posted about the Roots of Rhythm workshop that I attended and my plans to do this with my own students this summer.

We had so much fun learning about different countries, their rhythms and instruments.  We made Bongos from Cuba, the Buhai from Romania, the Kakko from Japan and the Sajat cymbals and spoons from Egypt.  One thing that I decided to do in this workshop that I’m really glad I did was to show clip samples on YouTube (using the PowerPoint projector) of people playing the instrument we were learning about.

We had a wonderful time in this workshop.  Lots of hands on learning and creating!
