Description
Are you looking for ways to assist your students in remembering how to accurately draw notes in the correct stem placement? Note Stem Swimmers is my favorite way of teaching students note stem direction, and it’s easy for them to remember!
You can choose from 2 posters with 2 different “body” colors. The material includes an answer key and 5 worksheets divided into 3 categories: space notes, line notes, and both space and line notes, with and without clefs. Students will trace the notes and stems, mark the incorrect stem placement and draw in the correct stem placement.

This activity pairs perfectly with Pirate Melody Write the Room. Begin with the activity “Note Swimmers” and then move on to “Write the Room.” These engaging and fun activities will help enhance learning and keep students engaged throughout the lesson.

I LOVE THIS!!! And so do my students!! I was really bugged by the fact that the stems (AKA the emojis’ bodies) were black, not yellow. So I emailed Jennifer and she updated the file to include yellow “bodies” within MINUTES, people!! Jennifer is amazing. I love her resources!

This resource is a great way to help kids remember note stem directions! The kids had a lot of fun making their ‘note swimmers’ and they can easily remember which way the stem directions go now.
