Anna Fagan shares her experience with music lab and how it all began for her in this review below. I love her story and maybe yours is similar? Whether or not you have been running a music lab for years or just getting started, music lab was born to solve a problem. To help our students learn.

In 1991, I had been out of college for 10 years, teaching part-time (about 10-12 students per week), and I was sick of spending lesson time to check written Music Theory work that had probably been completed in the back seat of a car, as the student was on the way to their lesson.

Enter the possibility of a Music Theory Lab!

NOBODY was doing them back then. I learned by trial and error, and since then have spent many lunch hours and weekend afternoons coaching other teachers in the value of establishing one, and on the most efficient way to set them up.

Today, you have a wonderful opportunity to be coached by one of the BEST in the business – Jennifer Foxx!

In her course “Music Lab – Setting Up for Success”, she has laid it all out for you in beautifully organized modules that you may watch whenever you have a few minutes, in the comfort of your home:

  • Stop/Rewind/Re-watch as many times as you wish
  • Take notes in her thoughtfully laid-out Workbook (TIP: if you HATE paper, download this to your favorite PDF app, like Notability, and take notes as you watch!)
  • More questions? You’ll have access to her online Facebook Group!
  • Great BONUS materials in the course that you will immediately be able to use in your lab time

So – is it worth the expense? Absolutely! I really learned a lot, even though I’ve been scheduling lab time for over 25 years!

Anna Fagan teaches about 35 students from her home in Clermont, Florida – and also holds weekly classes at Westminster Winter Park’s Retirement Community. She holds a B.A. in Piano Performance from the University of Central Florida, where she studied with Gary Wolf and Marie Hasse. Anna has been a church organist/pianist for over 35 years, and also enjoys accompanying for several High School choirs in the Clermont/Orlando area. She is the current President-Elect for the Florida State Music Teachers Association and has enjoyed presenting many workshops on the state and local levels on topics associated with Music Technology and Creativity in Music Studios.
