Are You a People Pleaser?

Business, Courses, Musings, Tips

I am a people pleaser by nature. I like to help people and I like to be liked. Who doesn’t, right? Need some sympathy or empathy? I’m your gal. I sometimes worry what people think of me especially when they are hard to read. Integrity and loyalty is important to me. I’m usually not one to start the drama but on the flip side if I’m super passionate about something I need to stand up for, I will.

I have learned that sometimes the best thing is not always the easy thing. This in itself has helped me grow. Another thing I have learned is that saying no, is really okay and the world is not going to end because of it. It’s something I have to constantly remind myself when I get caught in that whirlpool wind tunnel that is trying to suck me in.

When I was a young teacher I did not have a policy. Honestly, I didn’t even know they existed. It wasn’t until I moved and joined a music teachers association that I learned about policies. I thought it was such a smart idea! So I put one together.

The trick is when you have a policy, it doesn’t do any good unless you are willing to stick to it. So if you are a people pleaser like I am, you might find this part a lot harder. After all, you can empathize with your families. But just remember…

Sticking to your policy does NOT mean you can’t show a little grace when the need calls for it.

It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve reached a point over the years where I can honestly say that I am good at sticking to my policy. This didn’t happen overnight. This took practice and sometimes even some tears. But I quickly realized that when I stick to my policy many benefits come along with it. Here are my top 3…

I am more respected as a teacher AND as a business.

I worry/stress less.

I can concentrate on why I do what I do… my students.

Am I still drawn to be a people pleaser? Absolutely. But I try to remind myself that when I stick to my policy those benefits outweigh all the junk that comes along with not doing it.

Let me help you reach a point where you can get better at sticking with your policy. Sometimes it’s just helpful for someone else to tell you that you can do it! I have created a course that will guide you and encourage you along the way.

Wondering what all is included? Click here to check out the 7 modules and bonus materials. The script starters in the bonus materials alone are going to get you excited!

Learn from someone who can empathize with what you are feeling and going though. The struggle is real. I understand that and want to help! I am rooting for you! And remember, sticking with your policy does not mean that you can’t do other things to make people happy! We all deserve respect and happiness.
