Be S.M.A.R.T. with Your Policy

Courses, Misc., Tips

Last December I created a free worksheet on S.M.A.R.T. goals. While we usually re-visit our goals every New Year, this goal sheet can really be used anytime for most anything. What does S.M.A.R.T. mean?

S.M.A.R.T

S.M.A.R.T. goal setting certainly does not have to be just for your students. Why not use it when you need to create goals in relation to your studio policy?

For example… If I wanted to change my policy to no make-ups and wanted to figure out a way to best go about it, I might fill something like this out…

SPECIFIC- To create a no makeup policy that will provide a win-win for me and my families.

MEASURABLE- I will narrow down my win-win solutions and add them to my policy within 4 weeks.

ATTAINABLE- When families contact me about a make-up I will remind them of the new policy and give them the options they can take advantage of.

RELEVANT- This will help me be a better teacher, run my studio more smoothly and free up some time for my family.

TIMELY- I will let my families know about the new policy a month before fall semester. I will start implementing the new policy in Fall 2016.

Click here if you don’t have already have a copy of this worksheet. Remember you can use it with your students as well. When we set clear defined goals in our business we are more likely to stick with them. Be S.M.A.R.T.
